Take me back to the comics!

About the comic.

datamonkeys! is a weekly web-comic about young biologists and "some kinda" digital monkey. It's an evolving work that can only be encapsulated by the mantra: "Even biologists deserve geeky web-comics". The comic started out as an inside joke, but I've since kept it up as a creative outlet / nerdy hobby. At the time of this writing, it's almost been a full year. We'll see how long I can keep it up!

About the author.

I'm currently a post-doctoral research scientist at the University of California, San Diego. Over the years, I've done a lot of the stuff that one can get involved in as a biologist. I've lugged gallons of water through swampy ditches through clouds of mosquitos and black flies, in heat and humidity severe enough that it was illegal for unionized road workers to be outside; been up at two in the morning counting bristles on the bellies of fruit flies in a fog of ether; created broken mutant viruses and evolved them until they repaired themselves; and developed software for analyzing genetic sequences.

If you're curious about my work outside of amateur comics, here's a link to my CV. It should be pretty up to date.
